Healthcare Resort plans open house

The new Healthcare Resort, a new post-hospital center that offers urgent rehabilitative service, hospice care, assisted living and urgent care, will hold an open house from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8900 Parallel Pkwy. Wyandotte Plaza attracts new tenant

The Wyandotte Plaza Shopping has announced a new store, Five Below, will open this spring in the former location that housed the Super X and Eckerd drug stores. Five Below is a publically held discount chain that sells products costing no more than $5. The chain, with headquarters in Philadelphia, Pa., was founded in 2002 . The founders were David Schlessinger and Tom Vellios who previously founded Zany Brainy.? Items offered include games, fashion accessories, candy, beverages, school supplies and room dcor. According to Five Belows website, it had 417 stores at the end of the second quarter this year with plans to open 70 new stores by the end of this year.

Course to offer business basics

Business basics will be offered to persons wanting to start a new business. Kira McConnico of Integrity Designs will lead a workshop from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12 in the Community Event Center at Donnelly College, 608 N. 18th St. Topics will include developing a business plan, structuring and registering a business and establishing necessary financial procedures. Branding a business with a logo and a website will be discussed. A panel of successful business executives will offer advice. The cost of the session will be $60 and will include lunch. Toys for Dottes to bring joy to children

The Parent, Adolescent and Child Empowerment Services (PACES) program is collecting money for toys for children who are facing overwhelming obstacles such as depression, anxiety, trauma and poverty. These challenges are particularly difficult during the holiday season. PACES is a division of the Wyandot Center for Community Behavioral Healthcare.
