All Business West members invited to Connect the Dotte networking event

 All Business West members are invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Connect the Dotte committee at 8:30 a.m. the second Tuesday (Dec. 14) of each month at Rowe Ridge Vineyard and Winery, 11255 Leavenworth Rd. Complementary coffee and rolls will be served. Those attending the networking event will be encouraged to bring business cards and brochures about their business.

Business West Board honors founders

 The Business West Board of Directors recently passed a resolution honoring Joe and Katie Maderak, the founders of Business West in 1985. The Maderaks owned Madeerak Construction, a masonry company. The Board made the Maderaks honorary lifetime members.

Economic development efforts cited

Lt. Gov. David Toland recently told of the many successful efforts of new business investments in Kansas. He said businesses invested more than $2.5 billion during 2020 and $3.69 billion in 2021. Among these investments was a $400 million project by Urban Outfitters at 118th Street and State Avenue.

Agency receives accreditation

The Wyandot Behavioral Health Network recently received accreditation for mental health and other rehabilitation services from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. The accreditation was for three years. The organization cited the local agency’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of life of it’s clients.

BPU employees help youth organizations

The BPU Employees Charity Golf Corporation recently distributed $40,000 among youth’s serving organizations. Those receiving checks included the Kansas City, Kansas, West Kiwanis Foundation, KVC Hospital, Piper Trap Team and the BPU Employee Foundation. The next tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 at Dubs Dread Golf Course.

Medical Center names emergency service leader

Angie Fincher was recently named the new emergency services director at Providence Medical Center. She has more than 25 years of nursing emergency experience, including a former staff nurse at Providence. She also managed area emergency rooms for St. Luke’s community hospitals.

President signs infrastructure bill

U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids recently attended a bill-signing ceremony at the White House. President Joe Biden signed the bill. Rep. Davids serves as vice-chairperson of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. She said she is pushing to make sure that the Kansas Third District will receive funding from the bill.

The Board meets at 12:30 p.m. the third Wednesday each month in the Board Room of The Dotte Spot Bar and Grill, 8123 Parallel Pkwy. in the Arrowhead Center. Those wishing to eat lunch should arrive at noon and order from the menu.
