Business West plans night at Kansas City T-Bones
Business West members and their guests are invited to enjoy a barbecue dinner and baseball game when the Kansas City T-Bones play the Joplin Blasters Tuesday, June 21. The cost will be $32.50 a person and will include the meal, two drinks and a game ticket. Major development planned along Turner Diagonal
The Unified Commission of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, will be acting on major proposed development along the Turner Diagonal when it meets at City Hall at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26. The developer listed on public records is Seefried Industrial Properties, based in Atlanta with offices in Dallas. That organization is seeking a change in zoning on property owned by North Point Development. This property is about 100 acres that is one parcel of a much larger development. The Unified Governments Planning Commission recommended a zoning change Monday, May 9 that would allow for a building with 850,000 square feet of floor space that would be a major distribution center. The center is expected to employ more than 3,000 persons.
Business West supports federal grant proposal
Business West recently sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx urging him to approve a federal grant to help improve the infrastructure along the Turner Diagonal. This would be a TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) grant that would enhance proposed development that could include as many as 800 acres, the letter said. An engineers illustration showing an intersection improvement is attached.
