Meetings planned to tell of State Avenue progress

Business West will sponsor two meetings concerning the progress along the State Avenue Corridor. The first meeting will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 in the gymnasium at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 94th Street and State Avenue. The second meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 at Hillview Church of God, 701 N. 78th St. Business West is leading the effort to establish a Community Improvement District along State Avenue. This district would focus on security, appearance and marketing. ?Dr. Mohammad Ghassemi who recently moved his medical practice to State Avenue, will tell of why he invested in the corridor.? Shepherds Center to hold monthly meeting April 15

The Shepherds Center of Kansas City, Kansas, will hold its monthly Adventures in Learning at 9 a.m. Friday, April 15 at Grace Lutheran Church, 3333 Wood Ave. Ed Shutt will present a travelogue on the Himalayas and a history of the Statue of Liberty. Jerome Gorman, the District Attorney, will talk about current issues. Loretta Craig will talk about gardening. Shepherds Center will sponsor a fund raising breakfast from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Conference Center (by the duck pond) at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College, 7250 State Ave. The cost will be $8 per person.

Ethnic Festival set for April 16

The 11th annual Wyandotte County Ethnic Festival will be held from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday in the Field House at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College. Admission and parking will be free; Ethnic food will be available for purchase. More than 50 organizations will be represented at booths. Work continues on resurfacing in Village West area

The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that resurfacing in the Village West Area will continue through this month.? Areas include Village West Parkway and 110th Street.

Congressman to sponsor job fair

U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder will sponsor a job fair and resource expo for the Third Congressional District in Kansas from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 at the Ball Conference Center, 21350 W. 153rd St., Olathe. Legislative coffee planned

The Kansas City, Kansas Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Johnson County League of Women Voters will sponsor a legislative coffee at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd St. Members of the Wyandotte delegation have been invited and will discuss legislative issues.
