Unified Commissioner to speak at Membership Meeting

Melissa Bynum, the At-Large Unified Commissioner from the First District, will be the featured
speaker at the monthly luncheon meeting of Business West at noon Wednesday, July 20 at the
offices of Real Living KC Realty, 2100 Hutton Rd. Melissa, who was first elected to the Unified
Commission in 2015, will speak about the Unified Government’s 2023 budget. She is Executive
Director of the Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City, Kansas. She has worked for the Kansas
Department of Revenue, the Leavenworth Road Association and The Wyandotte West and The
Piper Press. She is a graduate of Kansas State University, Manhattan and Sumner Academy.
Melissa and her husband are the parents of a daughter and son. There will be no charge for the

College seeks Chief Financial Officer

Greg Mosier, the President of Kansas City, Kansas, Community College, recently announced
that the College is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to succeed Michael Beach who is retiring.
The salary range for the positon is from $111,876 to $167,814. The College is completing work
on a $20 million 260-bed student housing complex. The school also has plans for a $70 million

BPU Employees seek applications for golf tournament funds

The Board of Public Utilities Employee Charity Golf Corporation Tournament is seeking
applicants for the proceeds of its annual golf tournament. The purpose of the tournament is to
benefit the youth of the community served by the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities. Nonprofit
organizations can receive application forms by emailing [email protected]. The
applications must be returned no later than Friday, Aug. 11. This year’s tournament will be
Saturday, Sept. 10 at Dub’s Dread Golf Course. Since 1992, the tournament has raised more
than $679,000 for area children.
