Economic Development President to speak at Membership Meeting
Greg Kindle, President of the Wyandotte Economic Development Council, will be the featured
speaker at the monthly Membership Meeting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 in the Board
Room at The Dotte Spot Bar and Grill, 8123 Parallel Pkwy., in the Arrowhead Center. His talk
was originally scheduled for last month, but was postponed because of the Chiefs’ victory
parade. Those wishing to eat should arrive at noon and order off the menu. Greg will tell of the
various development activities in Western Wyandotte County. Greg has more than 20 years of
community and economic development. He has an undergraduate degree from Drury
University and a Masters’ in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. For more

Work resumes on intersection
Construction on the intersection at K-7 and Parallel Parkway has resumed according to a
spokesperson for the Unified Government. The project involves grading, concrete resurfacing
and the installation of a restricted crossing-turn. Temporary traffic signals will be installed to
manage traffic flow. Miles Excavation of Basehor is the contractor for the $1.1 million project. It
is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
County Administrator chosen
The Unified Commission recently unanimously chose David Johnston as the next Wyandotte
County Administrator. He held a similar position in Covington, Ky. He will begin work here
March 27. He was chosen from 32 applicants. He succeeds Cheryl Harrison-Lee who was the
interim County Administrator.
Learn about healthy eating
Janice McMahon of the K-State Research and Extension office will be the featured speaker at a
luncheon meeting starting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 21 at the Wyandotte United
Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave. The topic will be healthy eating for older adults; the
Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City, Kansas, will co-sponsor the activity. There will be no cost for

Appraised notices mailed
The Unified Governments Appraiser’s office recently mailed the 2023 Notice of Appraised
Values and Classification. A market study of the real estate market in Wyandotte County
indicates residential property has increased 20 percent in value and commercial real estate has
