Western Wyandotte County continues to be a good location for development. That was the
message that Greg Kindle delivered at a membership meeting of Business West Wednesday,
March 15 at The Dotte Spot Bar and Grill. About 15 members attended.

Kindle is President of †he Wyandotte Economic Development Council. Among the recent major
projects, as noted in the agency’s annual report for 2022, include:

  • Urban Outfitters, a $403 million investment at 118trh Street and State Avenue. This will
    be a national distribution location.
  • The Turner Logistics Building Five at 615 N. 69 th St. This is a $19 million investment.
  • Orange EV is an electric vehicle manufacturer at 900 N. 69 th St. This is a $38,310,000
    investment.
  • Homefield and Margaritaville Resort is near 98 th Street and State Avenue. This location
    was the former Schlitterbahn waterpark. It will include youth sports venues, lounges,
    indoor playing courts, an athletic training center, various retail shops, a hotel and
    apartments. This will be a $150 million investment.
  • Kansas City, Kansas, Community College student housing. This is a $20 million
    investment.

Kindle said the Council is sensitive to workforce development issues and having affordable
childcare is an important factor.

Kindle said it is important pay to attention to the needs of existing business because that is
where growth will occur.
