Senior police officer to speak at Membership Meeting
Capt. Brandon Holloway will be featured speaker at noon Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the
Membership Meeting of Business West at The Dotte Spot Bar and Grill, 8127 Parallel
Pkwy. He is assigned to West Patrol and will discuss area security issues. Those

Business West holds Annual Meeting
Business West held its 38 th Annual Meeting Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Rowe Ridge
Vineyard and Winery. Officers elected for the coming year included Kim Singleton,
President; Michelle Hereford, President-Elect; Pam Rowe, Immediate Past-President;
Murrel Bland, Recording Secretary; and Dr. Jane Winkler Philbrook, Interim Secretary.
Directors elected for a two-year term included Teresa White, Linda Wolford and Rusty
Roberts. Those continuing to serve a second year of their two-year terms are Jim
Echols, Mary Thurber and Donna Tilden.

BPU linemen to compete in Linemen’s Rodeo
Five journeymen and two apprentices of the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities will
compete in the annual competition sponsored by the International Linemen’s Rodeo
starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 on the grounds of the National Agricultural
Center and Hall of Fame. The event is free and open to the public.

Monarchs representative to speak
Mark McKee of the Kansas City Monarchs baseball team will be the featured speaker at
the monthly meeting of the Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City, Kansas, at 11 a.m.

Funeral home property sold
Kathleen Meyers Baska, a former President of Business West, has announced that the
funeral home property at 6300 Parallel Pkwy. has been sold. The buyer is Maribell
Santa Anna, the owner of a construction company presently in Mission, Kan. Plans call
for the company to move to the former funeral home location and to attract other office
tenants.
