Business West to hold Annual Meeting
Business West will hold its 28th Annual Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the home of Dr. Tim and Allison DeWitt, 4200 N. 123rd Ter., in the Piper community. There will be no charge for the meeting or the dinner. However, reservations are strongly encouraged. All area business owners and managers are invited. Officers for the coming year will be elected. Those nominated include Kathleen Meyers Baska, Past-President; Marisa Gray, President; Dr. Jane Winkler Philbrook, President-Elect; and Lesley Johnson, Treasurer. Directors nominated fro two-year terms include Sheryl Becker, Matt Browning, Pat Sedlock and Nancy Winkler. Those directors who will continue to serve the second year of their two-year terms will include Dr. DeeAnn Richards Behrens, Melissa Bynum, Dr. Tim DeWitt, Joe Maderak, Rusty Roberts and Don Scaro. Murrel Bland will continue as an advisory director.
The Business West Board of Directors will meet at 5:30 p.m. before the Annual Meeting.
Business Solutions series starts
Kansas City, Kansas, Community College will start its 2013 Business Solutions Series at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Room 3632 Flint Building. Rudolf Waldner, author of “Marketing from the Trenches,” will be the featured presenter. The Wine Barn Winery will be in the business spotlight. Grand opening planned
The Goin’ Postal store at 7925 State Ave., Suite 102 will hold its grand opening from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. A ribbon cutting is planned. The store is one of more than 300 such locations that can trace its roots back to 2002 in Zephyrhills, Fla. Marcus and his wife Dr. M.J. Price founded the company and were so successful they decided to show others how to run a shipping store by charging reasonable prices while making a decent living. The company’s core services are packaging and shipping of goods and parcels. They are authorized agents for FedEx, DHL, UPS, and the U.S. Postal Service. Dr. Joyce Moore is the franchise owner; Anthony and Peggy Rowell are company investors. Judy Simmons is the operations manager.
Wyandot, Inc. plans annual meeting
Wyandot Inc., which can trace its roots back to a child guidance bureau, will celebrate its 60th anniversary at its annual meeting starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at 1301 N. 47th St. Wyandot Inc. is the parent organization that focuses on the diverse needs of Wyandotte County residents. Members always welcome at Board Meetings
All Business West members are welcome to attend monthly meetings of the Business West Board of Directors. The next Board Meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the home of Dr. Tim and Allison DeWitt, 4200 N. 123rd Ter. in the Piper community. Normally the meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month in the Board Room at Sunset Bar and Grill, 8123 Parallel Pkwy., in the Arrowhead Center.
