Planning Director to speak
Rob Richardson, the Director of Urban Planning and Land Use, will be the featured speaker at the Annual Meeting of the State Avenue Corridor Planning Committee at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the Conference Center at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College, 7250 State Ave. Rob will discuss the overall plan for State Avenue, including a proposed housing and retail development for the vacant auto dealership at 73rd Street and State Avenue. Vision sought for Leavenworth Road
Dr. Jane Winkler Philbrook, the Unified Commissioner from the Eighth District, invites all interested persons to attend a community forum entitled “Your vision for Leavenworth Road” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Trinity Community Church, 5010 Parallel Pkwy. Commissioner Philbrook is interested in hearing what businesses and residents want for the Leavenworth Road Area.
Open house planned

Benefit dinner planned Oct. 19
Kansas City, Kansas, Community College, in cooperation with El Centro, will present the Tony Award-winning musical, “A night in the Heights.” A reception and dinner will be in the upper level of the Jewell Building starting at 5:30 p.m.; the performance will be at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Theater. The cost will be $20 for adults or $15 for students and older adults. Tables of eight are available for $200. Proceeds will benefit student scholarships.
