Business West supports substance abuse program
The Board of Directors of Business West Inc. passed a resolution of support Wednesday, March 19 for Mirror Inc to become the provider of substance abuse disorder in the State Avenue Corridor. College to sponsor annual Innovation Summit April 4
Persons interested in presenting innovative business ideas are invited to attend the third annual Innovation Summit from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, April 4 in the Upper Level of Jewell, 7250 State Ave. State Street will award $10,000 in prize money. Benefit planned for PACES
A tribute to country music legends Hank Williams, Merle Haggard and George Jones will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at the George Meyn Community Center in Wyandotte County Park, Bonner Springs. The concert will be a benefit for the Center for Parents, Adolescent and Child Empowerment Services (PACES). Advance tickets will be $15; $20 at the door. The Wyandotte County Legislative Delegation will host a “Coffee and Conversation” meeting from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12 in the auditorium at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd St.
BPU supervisor recognized
Sperlynn Byers, the Supervisor of Application Development for the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, recently received the 2014 Black Achievers in Business and Industry Award. The Southern Christian Conference of Greater Kansas City and the Black Achievers Society sponsored the honor. Byers has worked in several capacities within the BPU information technology group. He is a graduate of the Leadership 2000 program and coaches youth sports.
