Mayor Holland to speak at membership meeting
Mayor Mark Holland will be the featured speaker at the membership meeting of Business West at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13 in the Board Room at Sunset Bar and Grill, 8123 Parallel Pkwy., in the Arrowhead Center. Those attending may order off the menu. The mayor, who was elected last month, was the former commissioner-at-large from the First District. The mayor will discuss development opportunities in Western Wyandotte County. There will be a period for questions and answers. Reservations are strongly suggested as seating will be limited. Business West to attend T-Bones baseball game
Business West members will attend the baseball game between the Kansas City T-Bones and the Laredo Lemurs Friday, June 21 in a suite at Community America Ballpark in the Legends. A barbecue dinner will be served starting at 6 p.m. A short board meeting will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. The cost for the meal and the game will be $25 a person. Members will be encouraged to invite prospective members as guests. Early reservations are strongly suggested as only 25 tickets will be available. Providence appoints chief medical officer
Providence Medical Center recently named Dr. Sabato Sisillio as its chief medical officer. He also will serve in the same capacity at Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth. Prime Healthcare Services, a for-profit organization, recently purchased the hospitals from the Sister of Charity Health Systems. Dr. Sisillo said he will be in charge of utilization review and case management to make sure that patients get the quality care they deserve.
Business West needs to hear about best time for meeting
Business West is planning to hold a “hands on” social media workshop later this summer at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College. A professional website designer will make suggestions about how members could improve their web pages. The Business West Board of Directors would like to know your preference for the workshop time.

U.G. Planning Commission approves expansion efforts
The Unified Government’s Planning Commission approved petitions that three Business West members submitted Monday, May 13 for projects. Mike Rhodes requested a change in zoning to allow for a convenience store at 9001 State Ave. Reid Roberts requested a change in zoning for an upscale event center at 3150 N. 91st St. Clifford Dale received approval for a special use permit for fill activities at and near 5831 State Ave. These items will be before the Unified Commission at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 30 for final approval.
