Benefit to raise scholarship funds

Business West will hold a fund-raising event from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 at Culver’s, 1925 Prairie Crossing in Village West. Culver’s will donate 10 percent of proceeds to the Business West Scholarship Fund at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College. Business West will need 12 volunteers to help work the shift. Energy Summit planned

The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities will sponsor the 2014 E2 Summit from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at the Sporting Kansas City Park in Village West. The keynote speaker will be Colin Hansen of the Kansas Municipal Utilities organization; he will discuss environmental issues at state and national levels starting at 9 a.m. Various workshop sessions designed for residential and commercial customers will be presented throughout the day. Chamber of Commerce to hold Annual Meeting

The Kansas City, Kansas, Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7 at the Reardon Convention Center. Bill Graves, the former Governor of Kansas who is now the President of the American Trucking Association, will be the featured speaker. The cost will be $75 a person. Providence acquires Kansas City Imaging Center

Providence Medical Center recently announced the acquisition of the Kansas City Imaging Center at 11011 Haskell Ave. in Village West. Previously the Center was owned by United Imaging Consultants and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health Services. Randy Nyp, the chief executive officer at Providence, said it will be able to continue to offer advanced imaging services at the KCIC location in addition to the main Providence campus.

PACES launches capital campaign

Deryl Wynn and his wife Paige Wymore-Wynn were recently named co-charipersons for the fund-raising campaign to build a new emergency shelter for youths placed in protective custody. It would also be a respite center for families. The campaign goal is $675,000. PACES, a division of Wyandot Inc., would manage the shelter.

 

Fairfax Association plans meeting at Technical Education Center

The Fairfax Industrial Association will hold a luncheon meeting at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, March 13 at the Kansas City, Kansas Community College Technical Education Center, 6565 State Ave. Speakers will include Dr. Michael Vitale, Vice President of Academic Affairs at the College and Patrick McCartney, the Executive Director of the College’s Endowment Association.
