College plans event
The Kansas City, Kansas, Community College and its Endowment Association will hold a “Meet-and-Greet” event from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at the Technical Education Center, 6565 State Ave. Those planning to attend will include Dr. Doris Givens, the President of the College and members of the College’s Board of Trustees and the College’s Endowment Board of Directors. Medical Center has robotic surgical system
Providence Medical Center now has a da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. This will mean that Providence can provide “state-of-the-art” surgical care. Ribbon cutting planned
The Village West Luxury Apartment will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at 11024 Delaware Pkwy. The first phase of the development will have more than 300 units including one-bedroom and two-bedroom models. Northpoint Development is the developer.
State legislators plan town forum
Members of the Wyandotte County Legislative Delegation will hold a town forum from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd St. The discussion will concern issues before the current legislative session in Topeka.
West Patrol to discuss issues
Members of the West Patrol Division of the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department will hold a “Meet-and-Greet” session at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at the Fraternal Order of Police Hall, 7844 Leavenworth Rd. Those attending will be invited to discuss community issues and concerns.
Social media seminar planned
The Kansas City, Kansas, Women’s Chamber of Commerce will present a social media seminar at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24 at Dave and Buster’s in the Legends. The cost will be $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. The seminar will be geared to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Presenters will be Mary Redmond, a business consultant; Pat Brune, a retired federal court employee; and Joy Richardson, a senior director of United Way of Wyandotte County. Human Resources Roundtable set

BPU recognized for financial reporting
The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities recently received a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers’ Association. Lori Austin, the BPU’s Manager of Accounting and Finance and its Chief Financial Officer, accepted the national award. The BPU has received the honor for 32 consecutive years.
Kansas Black Chamber plans networking event
The Kansas Black Chamber of Commerce will hold a networking meeting from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at Liberty Bank, 1314 N. Fifth St. Jeanette Countee of Hallmark Retail, will be the guest speaker.
