State Avenue Committee to hold Annual meeting
Business West, in cooperation with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Kansas, Community College, will sponsor the Annual Meeting of the State Avenue Corridor Planning and Marketing Committee at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Technical Education Center of the College at 6565 State Ave.? Greg Kindle, the President of the Wyandotte Economic Development Council, will moderate a roundtable discussion among four private sector investors who will tell their success stories about developments along the State Avenue Corridor. The investors are Clifford Dale Jr., Dr. Mohammad Ghassemi, Steve Tran and Greg Wilcox. Dr. Jane Winkler Philbrook, the President of Business West, and Mayor Mark Holland, will give welcoming remarks. Dr. Philbrook is also the Unified Commissioner from the Eighth District. Alicia Hooks will tell of the entrepreneurship program at the College. There will be no cost for the meeting; however, reservations are strongly encouraged. Shepherds Center plans activities
The Shepherds Center of Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a benefit pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Conference Center (next to the duck pond) at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College, 7250 State Ave. The organization will hold its monthly Adventures in Learning starting at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at Grace Lutheran Church, 3333 Wood Ave. The featured speaker at 12:30 p.m. will be Joe Reardon, the President of the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and former Mayor of Kansas City, Kansas. Insurance agency changes ownership
Larry Strait has announced that he and his wife Linda Strait have? sold their Farmers Insurance Agency to Tonya Yadon. Tonya owned a Farmers agency in Lansing. She is also a licensed real estate agent. The agency will remain at 7925 State Ave., Suite 105. Tonya is a graduate of Harmon High School. She and her husband are the parents of two daughters. The family lives in Basehor.
