K-State dean to talk about future of agriculture
Dr. John Floros, the Dean of the College of Agriculture at Kansas State University, Manhattan, will talk about the future of agriculture at a benefit dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the
National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame. Dr. Floros, who also serves as the director of K-State Research and Extension, has been at his current post since August of 2012.? He has led the College of Agriculture as it has developed a strategic plan that will guide the school through 2025. His research specialties include the application of chemical engineering science, applied mathematics and industrial statistics to the field of food process engineering and packaging. The dinner meeting will be a benefit for the Ag Hall.? Business West and the Wyandotte County Farm Bureau will co-sponsor the event. Shepherds Center to celebrate 30th anniversary
The Shepherds Center of Kansas City, Kansas, will celebrate its 30th anniversary from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #45, 7844 Leavenworth Rd. The theme of the celebration will be Pearls of Wisdom. Barton Richardson, a comedian, will be the master of ceremonies. The cost will be $30 a person for the business casual event. Wyandot Inc. to hold annual meeting
Wyandot Inc., the parent corporation for social service agencies, will hold its annual meeting from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Savior Pastoral Center, 12600 Parallel Pkwy. The featured speaker will be Donovan Gardner, a mental health advocate. Agencies that serve clients under the umbrella of Wyandot Inc. include the Wyandot Center for community behavioral healthcare, the center for Parent, Adolescent and Child Empowerment Services, Kim Wilson Housing and Rainbow Services Inc., a 24-hour crisis center.
